MICHELLE WRIGHT SIGNS WITH BFD / AUDIUM NASHVILLE TO RERELEASE MASTER RECORDINGS OF HITS

“The memories that come flooding back to me from recording this live record make this rerelease even more joyful for me. I’m so happy to bring attention to this record once again and give it new life. It’s a that I’m very proud of”.

Nashville, Tenn. (September 19, 2023) — Michelle Wright, one of Canada’s most successful and widely recognized country artists, has signed with BFD / Audium Nashville to rerelease master recordings of some of her biggest hits into the marketplace. These songs, to be available as a series, were originally released on the Savannah Records imprint.

“I’m so excited to extend my relationship with BFD / Audium Nashville and announce the rerelease of these master recordings,” explains Wright. “These albums represent a body of work that has allowed me to take you on this wonderful journey I’ve been on and to share my life with you through my songs and recordings. Take a walk down memory lane with me.”

The first in the series will be The Wright Songs: An Acoustic Evening With Michelle Wright, set to drop December 8, and will include 17 songs recorded live on tour. For the 2024 holiday season, Wright plans to release A Wright Christmas with three newly recorded songs added to the original 12-track compilation. Additional projects will be announced at a later date.

In August of 2022, Wright partnered with BFD / Audium Nashville to drop her 10th studio compilation, Milestone, released 30 years after her breakthrough album, Now & Then. This project brought about conversations between label GM Chuck Rhodes and Wright’s manager, Chuck Thompson, to bring these songs back into the public eye.

“I was mesmerized with the Milestone project,” says Rhodes. “Michelle is a world class talent and I wanted to continue our partnership by bringing her catalog back to an up-close and personal status for a new audience to fall in love with.”

This October, Wright hits the road in Canada for her first co-headlining tour. Wright joins acclaimed Canadian country artists Doc Walker and Jason McCoy on The Great Canadian Roadtrip, scheduled to continue through next year.

"I'm so excited to be touring across Canada with Doc Walker and Jason McCoy," says Wright. "It's going to be a wonderful night of music, and I can't wait to share the stage with my friends and bring this show to fans across the country!"

About Michelle Wright

Like so many country artists, Michelle Wright cut her teeth playing six nights a week in clubs throughout Canada. In 1988, after teaming with Savannah Records President Brian Ferriman, Savannah Records released her first CD, Do Right By Me, in Canada. Michelle and her band set off to tour North America. Do Right By Me was a major hit in her homeland, with seven charting singles and over 40,000 copies sold. That success opened many doors, landing her a deal with the brand new Arista/Nashville label. Arista/Nashville made Michelle one of its flagship artists, and in 1990, they released her first U.S. album, Michelle Wright. American audiences enthusiastically responded to "that girl singer from up north with the snow in her videos." Her first single, "New Kind Of Love," became her first top thirty American hit. In 1992, Arista released her second CD, Now & Then, producing a total of six singles, including "One Time Around," "Guitar Talk," "He Would Be Sixteen," and the song that changed everything, “Take It Like A Man.” After the latter was released in February 1992, Michelle became the first Canadian‐born artist in the modern era of country music to have a Top Ten hit in America, to secure a number one video on CMT‐USA (also for "Take It Like A Man") as well as win a major US Award, the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist award. The song also catapulted Michelle to superstardom, receiving a total of twelve music industry awards, including the 1993 Canadian Country Music Association's Fans' Choice Entertainer of The Year Award and double platinum honors for Now & Then the same year. The career that followed is one that many artists dream of having. Twelve album releases sold millions of copies and produced twenty‐five Top Ten radio hits. Michelle enjoys an international career that has seen her grace concert stages across North America, Europe, Africa, South America, Australia, and Asia. To date, she has garnered forty major awards, including 16 CCMA Awards and her 2011 induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
